The recently created Laboratory International Assoscié (LIA) between Brasil and France formally started in january 2018 for a duration of 1+4 years.

The aim of this LIA – entitled “Subatomic physics: from theory to applications” – is to develop and reinforce common scientific and educational projects in this field, following previous collaborations between the two countries (FAPESP, COFECUB, PICS,…).

These projects cover different aspects on:
Theoretical Physics
Experimental Nuclear Physics
Application of Nuclear Physics
Research Training

From the Brasil side, this LIA involves as a signatories ITA, USP, UNESP/IFT and plus researchers from other Brazilian instituions (UFSC Florianópolis, UNIVAP, UFABC, UFF, UFRJ, UFRRJ, CBPF, etc…). From the France side it involve CNRS with several laboratories (IPN, CNSMN, and LAL from Orsay; GANIL, CIMAP and LPC from Caen, IPHC Strasbourg, IPN Lyon, LPSC Grenoble).

As a first action we planned a two-days workshop in ITA Campus at Sao Jose dos Campos to present the different projects and eventually propose new research lines. We have fixed the date of 12 and 13 June 2018.

Veja, abaixo, a divulgação original.

IUPAP YOUNG SCIENTIST PRIZE IN NUCLEAR PHYSICS FOR 2019

The IUPAP Young Scientist Prize in NuclearPhysics was established by IUPAP in 2005 at the time of the General Assembly in Capetown, South Africa.

The purpose of the prize, which consists of 1,000 €, a medal, and a certificate citing the recipient’s contributions, is:

“To recognize and encourage very promising experimental or theoretical research in nuclear physics, including the advancement of methods, procedures, techniques, or devices that contribute in a significant way to nuclear physics research. Candidates for the prize must have a maximum of eight years of research experience (excluding career interruptions) following the Ph.D. (or equivalent) degree.”

Nominations by one or two nominators (and distinct from the nominee) are open to applied and basic nuclear physicists in experiment and in theory. The nomination package should contain, other than the nomination letter, two additional letters of support, the curriculum vitae of the nominee containing also the list of publications. Three prizes will ordinarily be awarded at the time of the tri-annual International Nuclear Physics Conference.

Nominations are due September 1, 2018. The additional letters supporting the nomination should detail the expected significance of the contributions of the nominee to nuclear physics. To underline this, additional material such as published articles can be added to the nomination package. Especially information that allows the selection committee to evaluate the nominee’s contribution to and its direct impact on the field.

Nominations for prizes to be awarded at the next International Nuclear Physics Conference, July 28 – August 2, 2019, in Glasgow, Scotland, are to be sent by email by September 1, 2018 to the Chair of the IUPAP Commission of Nuclear Physics (C12): Prof. Claes Fahlander, Department of Physics, Lund University,

Sweden. Email: claes.fahlander@nuclear.lu.se, subject “IUPAP prize nomination”.
